Halls Creek and Mary Pool

I must prefer the open country to the towns as another one was passed through fairly quickly. Called into Halls Creek after our stay at Leycesters. Colleen and I went for coffee and cake at one of the two cafes. Then off to have showers at the local servo before refuelling and on our way again.
108 ks further on we came to Mary Pool. What a lovely place. After making our way across a very frail looking concrete causeway we came to the open area behind the river where at least 50 or more campers make it their home every night.
We stayed 3 days, too nice to leave. The nights are cold but the days are so hot and sunny. Lots of birds and walks along the rivers edge. Not a lot of water at the moment as its the dry season, supposed to be crocs here but obviously hidden away under the water and I'm not going swimming.
Good toilets and dump point. The council guys come out every day to clean the toilets and empty the numerous bins planted around the grounds.
Wouldn't want to be in here during the floods, would never get back out over the causeway, but then that could be a good thing if well stocked up.

Halls Creek IGA

Great Bowerbird

Cockatoo or Corella

An unusual flower on what I've been told is a cabbage tree.

Certainly looks like a cabbage leaf.

Wonder why or how this tree has grown like this.

Have no idea what this bird is.

Pretty flower, the plant has huge thorns.

This looks like an old truck lying on it's side in the next paddock.

Peaceful Dove

The Causeway out of here.
