Kalbarri

Spent a few hours in Kalbarri on the first day at Murchison House Station as it was only about 15 ks into town. Tried to get a haircut, couldn't fit me in till Saturday, wouldn't be around that long. I'd had a bit of a cleanout in the van so had a couple of bags of bits and pieces so found an Op shop and got rid of those, then to the Black Rock Café for a beautiful lunch of a Caesar Salad and Cappuccino. Well worth taking a trip to that café, all the food looked good. Then to a bakery for some of the freshest bread rolls I had tried in a long time, and a few groceries before heading back to camp.
The day we left camp to move on we went to the Kalbarri Cliffs for a photo shoot. What an amazing sight, very dramatic.

 

Murchison House Station

Having stayed a night at Murchison River which is a nice quiet spot just over the bridge and to the left along the river away from any traffic noise, we headed into Kalbarri finding Murchison House Station about 5 ks down a dirt road. For 10 dollars a night each we could camp beside the river overlooking different activities including Kayaking, horse riding and 4 wheel motorbike trekking, and many other interesting things happening.
Goats came past to greet us at night, Alpacas smiled sweetly as we watched them eating their lunch and baby feeding of it's mum, chooks and ducks in the pens and a rooster crowing in the distance. Also turkeys gobbling at times.
We found a high spot out of the sand and stayed two night watching the comings and goings. Enjoyed hot showers, which can be quite rare, and took plenty of photos.

Pelicans at Monkey Mia

I had to put this pelican separately. He had attitude.. Look at that eye, very evil.

They are beautiful birds with a really strange eye, don't you think?

Monkey Mia Part 2

Following on from the last blog, the next day we went to Monkey Mia. This is quite an experience, a must see if anyone is in the part of WA.
The dolphins come right up to you feet and can brush past you but you must never touch them. The photos tell the story. They are cheeky and like to show off for the camera.
