Cohuna - Leitchville - Kow Swamp

After Murrabit I made my way along the Victorian side of the Murray, enjoying some fantastic scenery, taking photos and ending up at Leitchville for the night. This being the second time I have stayed there, the first being on my way home at the end of my journey around Aus.
In no particular order I stopped in at Cohuna, for coffee and cake and a chat to the very friendly and helpful lady at the Info Centre.
First port of call when you enter a town should be to the info centre. There you will find brochures on anywhere you wish to visit in the area, helpful advise from the local volunteers, and toilets, at some Info Centres you will also find good drinking water and if lucky a shower, sometimes free,  sometimes for 2 or 3 dollars.
I wandered along the bank behind the info centre where there is a channel going through the town. Not sure how deep it is but saw a couple of young boys enjoying a swim on a hot day. Found a bit of wild life to photograph as well.
Leitchville is a great little town catering to the travellers. They have set up a designated spot next to the town swimming pool with each camp site specifically marked out. They have toilets just past the swimming pool, showers at the swimming pool for $3 when they are open and clean drinking water to fill your tanks at the camp site. There is also a dump point down the road at the town showgrounds.
Betty, a local volunteer, comes around every afternoon to welcome the newbies, give out advise and hand out brochures. Betty told me about Kow Swamp so the next day I headed out there for a look and of course to take photos of the local wild life. Only a few kilometres out of town in the farming country, a lovely picnic spot with tables and toilets.

Barham - Murrabit

From the last post I then moved on to Barham where I enjoyed a yummy Fishermen's Platter at the local servicemen's club. Had a bit of everything, except oysters. With chips and salad and a coffee came to about $16, was a real treat. Very friendly and pretty town.
From there I moved onto Murrabit to await the Saturday Market, renowned to be one of the biggest in Country Victoria.
Firstly I camped alongside the river beside the Murrabit Bridge  which takes you back over to NSW.
A pleasant stay with only a few boaties coming use the boat ramp, and a couple to walk their dogs.
I was able to have the radio playing good music and relax in the shade.
Unfortunately not everyone can read. Dead carp thrown under a sign that said Do not leave carp lying around, Please use the bins provided.

This is also on the Murray River.

The next day off I went into Murrabit and the market. I was able to park across the road in a large area for a gold coin donation to the local Lions Club. Then made my way into the madness of the market. It is well set up with small streets in the local park and a huge variety of anything you could wish for.

All taken at Port of Echuca.
I then took a drive from Moama to Barham on the NSW side of the Murray taking a few days to do a round trip back to Echuca. This was the week before Xmas. There are beautiful spots all along the Murray worthy of having a camera along. I drove a few back roads off the main road and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the farms, farmers at work, hay bales and general history along the way.

Two different types of baling hay. The first being the one I remember as a child.

Then came the modern round bales of today.
