Ready to hit the road again.

Have been spending time with family in Hervey Bay for the last month. Not much else to do other than getting my flu shot.
Have wandered off a few times when I've got itchy feet. Last trip I took in Bundaberg, Gin Gin, Apple Tree Creek and Childers before returning to Hervey Bay.
First night I stayed at Sharon Reserve on the Gin Gin Road after having a wander around the Botanic Gardens where I managed to get some great photos.

Sharon Reserve where I stayed the night has a gorge walk down to the river, over a kilometre down so the same coming back up. Because of the weather I decided not to tackle it. Did get a few photos at the camp.

The next day I went for  a drive around Bundaberg (Bundy as it's known to the locals) Nearly two years since I was last here. I was surprised how many shops had closed, new building going up and some businesses having moved. Bunnings was one good example. Now down a side street from where it used to be on the main street in opposite Sugarland. Only moved a short distance but well worth it. So much bigger, smarter and the café is a definite Must Try. Just as good as any city café with delicious food.
That night I stayed in the grounds of Shalom College as it was Saturday and every Sunday they have a very large market in the grounds. I always enjoy this market and make a point of spending a day there when I'm in the area.
Staying the night (out of the way of the stall holders) in the car parking area, means I can be up bright and early. I always start the day there with a visit to their kitchen eating area where I buy a coffee and pikelets with jam and cream and the Sunday paper. I spend the next hour enjoying my breakfast while I read the paper.
Then off to the market, where I stock up on lots of fresh fruit and veges.   I buy as much as I can carry, take it back to the van and go back for a 2nd lot. Ending up with sweet potato (kumera) at 80 cents a kilo. A large pumpkin for 2.50 A large bag of carrots, broccoli, and much more. In the fruit department I got some favourites, Dragon fruit, Figs and some every day fruits as well.
After a very successful day I made my way up to Gin Gin for the first time. Found my way about a km north to a large free camp where I spent the night. Gin Gin is a very pretty town, loved the wide streets through the middle of the town with gardens down the middle.
Managed to get a few bird photos, mainly Kookaburras as they were not shy in sitting on trees only a few metres away from my van.

The last night I stopped the night at Apple Tree Creek the last night stopping in Childers for lunch on the way back to Hervey Bay. Lovely Bakery in Childers, can highly recommend it, eat there regularly when passing through. Opposite the post office.
Next week my plan is to go down towards Brisbane before heading north for the start of my trip.
While down there hoping to check out Eumundi market, love that place. Then on to Redcliffe and surrounds to catch up with a few friends.
