Roebourne WA

Spent the day travelling in from Balla Balla for the next part of our trip, there are a few small towns on the way through to Karratha so decided to start with the first one which is Roebourne. Turned out to be the most photogenic of them all.
Full of old historic building, so much to see and photograph. Roebourne is reported to be the oldest town on the NW coast of Western Australia. Settled in 1866 the town was named after WA first surveyor General John Septimus Roe.
Many fine historic buildings still remain as a constant reminder of the early days. The old gaol is a perfect example having being built in 1880-90s. Other examples are the Post Office, Library and church. Lots of old relics are on  show at the gaol which is now the Information Centre.
There is also what seems to be a prison railway carriage on show.
Old Gaol now Info Centre, photos following taken inside
