Mt. Isa

Arrived in Mt Isa Sunday 11th May and booked into the Mt Isa Caravan Park. A few repairs are needed to some of the vans, fortunately not mine.. I did go to Supercheap Auto for another bottle of Liqui Moly Diesel Clean and Boost as will probably run out where there are no Supercheap.
Having to pay $28 a night here, $35 for the others, one advantage of having a smaller van, I have made sure to take advantage of all facilities.
Beautiful hot showers, filled up all the water containers, load of washing done. Will use the dump point here in the park before I leave in the morning. They also fill gas bottles so for $17.50 I got mine filled, first time since I got the van last November. Very cost effective.
Colleen and I walked to the nearest Woolies for a stock up. Was a bit further than we had been told and thankfully Steve arrived in his coaster so we got a ride back with him. So all stocked up again till I think Katherine. Need to fuel up with Diesel in the morning also.
Haven't had a chance to take any photos, will do that tomorrow morning before we leave.
Will only be going about 50 ks tomorrow, Tuesday as some are getting work done in the morning, we will stop at the next overnight camp and wait for them to catch up, rather than pay for another night in a caravan park, two nights is enough for now.
Later on we will have no choice but to go into caravan parks when we get over to the west or even Darwin..
So after two decent walks today I am exhausted and will be having an early night. A few things to do around town before we leave. Including refuelling and photos.

From Mt Isa we moved on to the WW2 Campsite 55 ks towards Camooweal. A great spot with plenty of room, toilets and a dump point.
A very pretty place with a historic past and lots of wildflowers.

The original road built in 1943 between Mt Isa and Camooweal, still runs alongside the road we use today which is of much better quality of course.

The wildflowers

This one is the Desert Rose.

We are seeing hundreds of ant hills now. Bigger ones to come.
